INVITATION

In view of the preparation of an European Economic and Social Committee opinion on "Community Led Local Development (CLLD) as a tool of Cohesion Policy 2014-2020 for local rural, urban and peri-urban development", a hearing will be organised on 29 September 2014 at the EESC headquarters, rue Belliard 99, Brussels. This hearing will bring together a range of actors in the field who will share their experiences and positions regarding this new tool, providing expert viewpoints on this topic. Local administrations, mayors, SMEs, NGOs, social partners, farmers, fishermen, researchers, – you are all welcome to participate and share your experiences and ideas...

CLLD is a specific tool for use at sub-regional level which complements other development support at local level. CLLD can mobilise and involve local communities and organisations to help achieve the Europe 2020 Strategy goals of smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, foster territorial cohesion and reach specific policy objectives.

The Greek and Italian Presidencies attach great importance to cohesion policy as a valuable tool for boosting sustainable growth and overcoming the current economic crisis in Europe. The new CLLD Mechanism included in the European Common Strategic Framework for Structural and Cohesion Funds can add real value to the efforts to promote economic and social cohesion throughout the European Union and achieve long-lasting growth.
